{"id":5801,"date":"2019-06-23T09:46:29","date_gmt":"2019-06-23T14:46:29","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.mistersparky-dfw.com\/?p=5801"},"modified":"2026-01-21T13:07:10","modified_gmt":"2026-01-21T18:07:10","slug":"electrical-service-project-dallas-june-2019","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.mistersparky-dfw.com\/?p=5801","title":{"rendered":"Service Project: 13 Days Living Without Power Until Community Came Together"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2>Service Project<\/h2>\n<p>[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]On Wednesday, June 19, 2019 \u2013 ten days after a large storm that rolled through DFW, causing outages for days \u2013 <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/dgoins\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">David Goins<\/a> of WFAA <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wfaa.com\/article\/news\/10-days-without-power-in-southern-dallas\/287-ca63123a-0d4f-4eec-bfac-671ddcf3cbce\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">reported<\/a> that Mr. Robert Crossland in southern Dallas was still without power.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><iframe style=\"border: 1px solid #e6e6e6;\" src=\"https:\/\/media.wfaa.com\/embeds\/video\/287-cc7d03b4-8b39-4e5f-9a99-5dcddd7818eb\/iframe\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Robbie, an electrician on our team, saw Mr. Crossland&#8217;s story on WFAA right after it was published and was moved to help. Ten days later his Highland Hills home just west of I-45 in Oak Cliff, is still dark.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cI\u2019m very disappointed,&#8221; Crossland said. &#8220;This is the worst thing I\u2019ve had (happen) since I\u2019ve been here.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>Crossland is a stroke survivor, 76 years old and on a fixed income, so he could not fix this.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>His neighbor\u2019s tree fell June 9, cutting his power. His neighbor doesn\u2019t have insurance and couldn\u2019t afford to remove the tree.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>So Crossland called Oncor \u2013 but the public utility doesn\u2019t remove damaged trees on private property.
